Prosecutor faces investigation for ordering raid

An investigation was launched against Adana Public Prosecutor Ahmet Mithat Temel, who ordered the police to search computers of Daily Yeni Safak after prosecuting the newspaper for cyber crimes due to its report, 'Court foiled game', on the police officers, who were allegedly involved in illegal wiretapping in this southern province. Temel has faced a prosecution after the Supreme Council of Judges and Public Prosecutors, or HSYK, has examined his move aiming at censoring the report and considered Yenisafak's report a tip-off. A case file, opened against Temel at the General Secretariat of HSYK, has been sent to Department 3 in HSYK, authorizing to take action on complaints against judges and prosecutors. Whether or not to put the file into the legal agenda is completely under the authority of Ahmet Hamsici, Department 3's head, who has a power to set the agenda.
