Istanbul is hosting the first-ever Türkiye E-Commerce Week, a major gathering aimed at strengthening the nation's $90 billion digital commerce ecosystem. The two-day event, organized by the Trade Ministry, will bring together marketplaces, SMEs, and tech startups to explore AI-driven opportunities and shape the future of the industry through panels, workshops, and networking sessions.

Türkiye is set to host its inaugural E-Commerce Week in Istanbul, a landmark event designed to consolidate and expand the country's rapidly growing digital commerce sector. Organized by the Trade Ministry in collaboration with industry associations, the gathering aims to foster collaboration and showcase innovation within a market that now boasts a formidable $90 billion ecosystem.

A comprehensive industry gathering

The two-day event at the Istanbul Lutfi Kirdar Congress Center will unite all segments of the digital commerce landscape, from marketplaces and SMEs to logistics providers and technology startups. The program features an extensive agenda including expert panels, masterclasses, workshops, and dedicated networking sessions. These activities are designed to help shape Türkiye's national digital commerce vision by connecting industry professionals with investors, academics, and government representatives.

Spotlight on a booming ecosystem

Cagatay Yasin Karaboga, head of the Trade Ministry’s Electronic Commerce Department, highlighted the scale of the industry, revealing that the $90 billion volume was generated through approximately 6 billion transactions from 601,000 active sellers in 2024. "Rapid digitalization has reshaped consumer and producer habits, enabling shopping independent of time and place," he stated, emphasizing that e-commerce provides equal opportunities for producers across Türkiye.

Future-focused initiatives and recognition

Beyond knowledge-sharing, the event will feature a startup-to-business meeting platform and an inaugural awards ceremony to honor leading companies driving the sector forward. Discussions will focus on critical topics such as artificial intelligence integration, entrepreneurial success stories, and the broader effects of digital transformation, positioning Türkiye's e-commerce sector for its next phase of growth and international competitiveness.
