Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz has declared that energy transformation forms the cornerstone of Türkiye's national development strategy, with renewable sources now accounting for 60% of the country's installed power capacity. During his address at the COP30 climate conference in Belem, Brazil, Yilmaz emphasized that Türkiye's clean energy policies simultaneously advance both environmental sustainability and macroeconomic stability.

Ambitious Renewable Energy Targets

Yilmaz detailed Türkiye's comprehensive approach to energy security, which prioritizes affordability and sustainability through technological investment and resource diversification. The vice president announced ambitious future targets, including plans to quadruple the nation's solar and wind energy capacity while promoting low-carbon production methods and embracing next-generation energy technologies.

Strategic Energy Independence

The vice president highlighted how Türkiye's energy transformation has systematically reduced external dependency through concerted efforts in energy efficiency and technological advancement. He stressed that meeting growing global energy demands requires an integrated strategy that balances security, affordability, and environmental responsibility across all sectors of the economy.

International Engagement and Cooperation

During the climate summit, Yilmaz conducted bilateral meetings with numerous international leaders, including Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima, Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Vice President Tariq Saleh, UN-Habitat Executive Director Anaclaudia Rossbach, and Celso Amorim, chief adviser to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
