Türkiye Nears Eurofighter Deal with UK, Ready for Gaza Peace Role

Türkiye has reported significant progress in negotiations with the United Kingdom for the acquisition of Eurofighter Typhoon jets, according to Defense Ministry sources. The ministry also signaled the readiness of the Turkish Armed Forces to participate in an international stabilization force for Gaza, highlighting the country's commitment to regional peace and its ongoing efforts to bolster its air power.

Progress on Eurofighter Procurement

Following high-level discussions, the procurement process for the Eurofighter jets is advancing positively. Ministry officials indicated that the goal is to finalize the agreement at an appropriate time, with official announcements to follow once a contract is signed. This potential acquisition is seen as a crucial interim measure to maintain the Turkish Air Force's operational capabilities until the domestic KAAN fighter jet enters service.

Gaza Task Force and Regional Stability

In response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, an International Stabilization Force (ISF) is being planned. The Turkish Armed Forces, drawing on their extensive experience in international peace missions, have expressed their readiness to undertake any duties assigned within the framework of international law. A Civil-Military Coordination Center has been established to facilitate this effort, which will involve security patrols, aid delivery, and infrastructure protection.

Syria and SDF Integration Monitored Closely

On the situation in neighboring Syria, the ministry reaffirmed its close cooperation with the Syrian government under a recent memorandum of understanding. Officials emphasized the critical importance of integrating the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) into the Syrian national army, a process that Türkiye is monitoring with great sensitivity. The stability of Syria is considered vital for regional peace, and Türkiye remains committed to the principle of "One State, One Army."
