Gaza authorities report 480 humanitarian aid trucks entered the territory Wednesday under the ceasefire agreement, bringing the total to 653 since the truce began. The deliveries remain substantially below the 600 trucks daily requirement outlined in the US-brokered agreement.

Palestinian authorities in Gaza have confirmed 480 humanitarian assistance trucks entered the territory Wednesday under provisions of the ceasefire agreement with Israel, marking the largest single-day delivery since the truce implementation. The Gaza Government Media Office reported Thursday that cumulative aid shipments since the October 10 ceasefire commencement now total 653 trucks, though these figures remain substantially below stipulated daily requirements for addressing the territory's humanitarian crisis.

Ceasefire provisions and implementation gaps

The US-mediated ceasefire arrangement specifically mandates 600 aid trucks daily entry into Gaza, including essential fuel and cooking gas shipments necessary for sustaining basic services and food preparation. Despite Wednesday's increased delivery, aid distribution has experienced significant interruptions with no shipments permitted Monday or Tuesday, while Sunday witnessed only 173 trucks entering including minimal fuel and cooking gas supplies according to media office director Ismail al-Thawabta.

Humanitarian needs and assessment

Gaza authorities characterized the current aid volume as "a drop in the ocean of needs" given the extensive humanitarian requirements following months of conflict and infrastructure destruction. The media office emphasized that sustained daily delivery of 600 trucks represents the minimum necessary to ensure adequate fuel, cooking gas, medical supplies, and relief materials reach Gaza's civilian population facing severe supply shortages.

Coordination and distribution efforts

Local government agencies continue coordinating with international humanitarian organizations to manage aid entry and establish equitable distribution mechanisms throughout the territory. These efforts aim to ensure assistance reaches all Palestinian residents affected by the conflict that has resulted in nearly 68,000 fatalities and rendered much of Gaza's infrastructure uninhabitable since October 2023.
