IRGC says it targeted US base in Kuwait in 12th retaliatory wave

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Friday said its Aerospace Force targeted a US military base in Kuwait, marking what it described as the 12th wave of retaliatory strikes against American assets in the region.

Attack on Kuwait base

The IRGC stated that the targets included a missile defense detection and identification radar, several weapons depots, and two High Mobility Artillery Rocket System launchers along with their stored missiles. The elite force claimed the strike ignited a large fire at the installation, according to the semi-official Mehr news agency. The operation came as Tehran continues its campaign against Gulf states hosting American military assets.

Retaliation for US strikes

The Guards said the operation responded to recent American attacks targeting civilian facilities, telecommunications infrastructure, railway workers, and vehicles that caused casualties. Washington has conducted six consecutive nights of offensive operations against Iranian military assets, with US Central Command announcing Thursday that it completed a new wave of strikes. The exchange marks a sustained escalation in hostilities that began in February when the US and Israel launched a joint offensive against the Islamic Republic.

Diplomatic efforts amid tensions

Tehran has responded to the February offensive with missile and drone strikes directed at Gulf nations hosting US military bases. Iran and the US signed a memorandum of understanding last month brokered by Pakistan aimed at ending the conflict and securing a lasting peace agreement. Tensions have sharpened in recent days over the Strait of Hormuz, with both sides exchanging attacks despite the diplomatic initiative.
