Islamic center remotely converts 852 new Muslims in first quarter of 2020
The new converts remotely recited the proclamation of Islamic faith, or Shahadah, due to the coronavirus pandemic, as interest in Islam has risen amid the coronavirus pandemic
A number of 850 converts embraced Islam in the first quarter of 2020 alone, according to the Mohammad Bin Rashid Center for Islamic Culture in Dubai, up from 838 this time last year.
The new converts remotely recited the proclamation of Islamic faith, or Shahadah, due to the coronavirus pandemic, as interest in Islam has risen amid the exceptional circumstances gripping the world, said Head of the New Muslim Welfare section Hana Abdullah Al-Jallaf in an interview with Gulf News.
Several recent reports noted an increase in interest in converting to Islam since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic broke out as numerous celebrities, including legendary Austrian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Wilhelm Ott, embraced the religion of peace.
