Israel deports activists aiding Palestinian farmers in West Bank

Israeli authorities deported 32 international activists on Wednesday, alleging their involvement in supporting Palestinian agricultural efforts in the West Bank. A joint statement from Interior Minister Yariv Levin and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir confirmed the deportations and the imposition of a near-permanent, 99-year entry ban on the activists, whose nationalities were not disclosed.

The Allegations and Ban

The ministers' statement claimed the activists were suspected of affiliation with the Union of Agricultural Work Committees, a Palestinian NGO that assists farmers. The decision for their removal was reportedly initiated following a formal request from Yossi Dagan, who leads the Settlements Council in the northern West Bank. The 99-year entry ban is an exceptionally long measure, effectively barring the individuals for life.

Escalating Tensions in the West Bank

This incident occurs against a backdrop of intensified Israeli military operations and settler activities in the region. In a separate development, the Israeli army conducted raids leading to the arrest of 45 Palestinians. According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society, these operations involved property damage and confrontations with families.
