Israel launches new wave of strikes on Tehran's government infrastructure
AA
Smoke rise after explosions as the Israeli army announced a new wave of attacks on Tehran, the capital of Iran, on March 22, 2026.

Explosions reported across multiple districts of Iranian capital, including Piroozi Street and Heravi Square, as conflict enters fourth week.

The Israeli military announced Monday it had carried out a new wave of attacks targeting government infrastructure across Tehran, with explosions reported in at least five municipal districts of the Iranian capital. The strikes mark the latest escalation in the ongoing US-Israeli campaign against Iran.

Multiple sites hit

According to Iran's Fars News Agency, blasts were heard across several areas including Piroozi Street, Shahid Babaei Highway, Heravi Square and Hafez Street near the Jomhuri intersection. No information was immediately available regarding casualties or the extent of damage. The broad scope of the operation suggests Israel is targeting a wide array of government facilities.

Conflict persists

The attacks are the latest in a series of US-Israeli strikes against Iran that began Feb. 28, which have reportedly killed at least 1,300 people, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has responded with sustained drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, keeping the region on edge as the conflict enters its fourth week.

No end in sight

With both sides continuing military operations and no diplomatic breakthrough in sight, the cycle of strikes and retaliation shows no signs of abating. The latest attacks on Tehran's government infrastructure demonstrate Israel's determination to degrade Iran's leadership and administrative capabilities, while Iran's continued retaliatory strikes against US assets in the region suggest the conflict will persist.
