Israeli occupation forces fatally shot an 18-year-old Palestinian in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, and seriously wounded another civilian Monday, marking fresh violations of the October ceasefire agreement. The attacks occurred outside military deployment zones, pushing the post-truce death toll to 817 according to health officials.

Medical personnel at Al-Shifa Hospital received the remains of an 18-year-old victim following gunfire by occupation troops in Beit Lahia municipality. Healthcare workers confirmed the teenager died from wounds sustained during the military engagement. A second Palestinian sustained serious injuries during the same incident and remains under medical care.

Widespread truce violations continue

Beyond the fatal shooting, occupation forces demolished Palestinian structures and infrastructure in zones east of Gaza City under their control. Witnesses reported heavy artillery bombardment and small-arms fire striking residential areas outside designated military deployment zones. Southern Gaza also came under attack, with Israeli artillery targeting eastern neighborhoods of Khan Younis.

Ceasefire agreement under severe strain

The violence marks another breach of the October 10, 2025 ceasefire meant to halt two years of warfare. Gaza's Health Ministry documents 817 fatalities and 2,296 injuries resulting from Israeli military actions since the truce commenced. Monday's casualties add to the growing list of Palestinians killed while the agreement theoretically remains in force.

Humanitarian catastrophe deepens

The broader conflict has claimed upwards of 72,000 Palestinian lives and wounded approximately 172,000 individuals since October 2023. Military operations have devastated nearly 90 percent of the territory's civilian infrastructure, leaving the population in dire humanitarian conditions. International observers continue monitoring compliance with the ceasefire terms as civilian casualties mount.
