Kuwait issues strong condemnation
Kuwait's Foreign Ministry on Sunday denounced Iranian military strikes on its territory as a "dangerous escalation" that deepens instability across the Middle East. In a statement posted on the US social media platform X, the ministry said the attacks breach international law and reflect a persistent hostile approach.
"These attacks constitute a grave violation of Kuwait's sovereignty," the ministry stated. It added that Kuwait "reserves the full right to take whatever measures are necessary to protect its security" in line with international law and the UN Charter.
Iran expands attacks across region
Tehran said early Sunday that its forces had launched missile and drone strikes targeting US military installations in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, and Oman. The attacks came as Washington confirmed late Saturday that American forces had completed a third round of military operations against Iran this week following an Iranian assault on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Arab Emirates separately reported that its air defense systems had intercepted Iranian projectiles and that it had responded to the aggression. The exchanges mark a significant expansion of hostilities that have convulsed the Gulf region since late February.
