Sanders renews call to end US military aid to Israel

Senator Bernie Sanders renewed his call to halt US military assistance to Israel, citing widespread deaths, home demolitions, and illegal settlement expansion in the West Bank. “It’s not just Gaza, Iran and Lebanon,” he said, noting that over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023.
US Senator Bernie Sanders on Tuesday condemned Israeli military and settler actions in the West Bank and reiterated his demand to end US military aid to Israel. “It’s not just Gaza, Iran and Lebanon,” Sanders wrote on the US-based social media platform X. He stated that since October 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have killed 1,071 Palestinians, demolished more than 6,000 homes, and built over 200 illegal outposts in the West Bank. “No more US military aid to Israel,” he added.
Senate rejected arms sales block
Last week, the Senate rejected two resolutions introduced by Sanders aimed at blocking nearly $500 million in arms sales to Israel. The US has faced longstanding criticism for its support of Israel’s war in Gaza, where more than 72,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed since October 7, 2023. A ceasefire was reached in October 2025, but violations remain frequent.
Growing pressure in Congress
Several American lawmakers have called on the US government to halt weapons supplies to Israel, accusing Washington of being complicit in Israel’s military operations. Sanders’ renewed push reflects growing congressional dissent over continued military assistance amid escalating violence in the West Bank and ongoing ceasefire violations in Gaza.
