The United Arab Emirates has strongly denounced the Israeli Knesset's preliminary approval of two annexation bills for the West Bank, labeling the move a dangerous escalation that violates international law. The Gulf nation warned that such measures undermine the two-state solution and regional peace efforts.

The United Arab Emirates issued a formal condemnation on Thursday against Israel's parliamentary advance of legislation to annex the West Bank and the Ma'ale Adumim settlement bloc. The UAE Foreign Ministry characterized the Knesset's preliminary vote as a "dangerous escalation" that represents a clear violation of international legal standards and threatens ongoing peace initiatives in the region.

Violation of International Law

In an official statement, the UAE government reaffirmed its complete rejection of all unilateral actions aimed at changing the legal and historical status of Palestinian territories under occupation. The ministry emphasized that any annexation attempt would be categorically opposed because it fundamentally undermines the two-state solution framework that has formed the basis of international peace efforts for decades.

Call for International Action

The Gulf state urged the global community to fulfill its legal and political obligations by taking necessary measures to ensure regional security and stability. This appeal aligns with last July's landmark International Court of Justice opinion that declared Israel's occupation illegal and demanded evacuation of West Bank and East Jerusalem settlements, adding legal weight to the UAE's diplomatic position.

Regional Peace Implications

The Emirati statement highlighted the critical importance of supporting international efforts to revive the peace process while ending unlawful practices. The UAE maintained its commitment to advancing peace and justice while protecting Palestinian rights, noting that West Bank annexation would effectively terminate the possibility of implementing a two-state solution as envisioned by United Nations resolutions.
