Parties agreed on avoiding the use of any campaign materials that may harm or pollute the environment
Turkey's political parties have agreed to carry out an environment-friendly election campaign in Istanbul for the upcoming snap elections.
The governor's office said officials from 14 political parties decided to use 'recoverable' and 'eco-friendly materials' which will not damage the environment, during a meeting held on Thursday.
The parties will not use loudspeakers or hang posters and any campaign materials except in the public areas which are in close proximity to their campaign centers, according to the agreement they reached in Thursday's meeting.
A similar decision was reached recently in capital Ankara. Political parties will not hang propaganda material in any public area other than the designated areas to ensure a waste-free election.
On Nov. 1, over 54 million eligible voters will head to the polling stations, usually located in public buildings like schools or local halls. The polling stations will be open from 8:00 a.m. (06:00GMT) to 10:00 p.m. (15:00 GMT) on election day.
