The key officals will show the Turkish government would never refrain from helping people in terror-stricken areas
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım are making a landmark visit to the predominantly Kurdish province of Diyarbakır to inaugurate 116 goverment projects as a sign of removing the alleged rift between the two top state posts.
Erdoğan and his close ally have arrived in the province with a high-level delegation including cabinet members.
Ahead of the visit, security has been stepped up in the province. A police reinforcement of 2,600 officers was sent to the city where 5,600 officers are already deployed.
Two officers were stationed at every 10 meters on the travel route, where the two senior officials passed. Armored vehicles have been deployed with police officers at some checkpoints on their route and across the province.
Almost all roads leading to the governor's building have been closed off while snipers have been deployed on the roofs of some high-rise buildings. This is where the security has reached its peak as President will make a speech to the town's residents.
Before the historic visit, security forces detained 42 suspects on terror charges over the past two days. Police forces remained deployed at several checkpoints across the city.
As part of the visit, President and Prime Minister will make a stop at Dürümlü village, where 16 people were killed in a PKK truck bombing on May 12.
