Turkish president says Ankara attacks were conducted collectively by Syrian intelligence, ISIL and PKK terrorists
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Thursday that he believes Syrian secret police, the “mukhabarat", the PKK and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist organizations all played a role in a twin suicide bombing in the Turkish capital which killed more than 100 people this month.
The attack was a “collective terrorist act" planned and carried out by several terrorist groups, Erdoğan said during a speech in Ankara at the ordinary general assembly of Confederation of Turkish Real Trade Unions (HAK-İŞ).
Turkish authorities have identified one of the two bombers as Yunus Emre Alagöz, believed to have been a member of ISIL.
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu stated previously that the attack could have been conducted collectively by PKK, ISIL and DHKP-C, a Marxist terrorist group.
Erdoğan said they would not allow these perpetrators to violate peace in Turkey. He specially warned citizens of Kurdish origin against provocations and suggested them not to be fooled by attempts to divide the society.
The Ankara bombing, which killed over 100 civilians and injured more than 200 others, was the deadliest attack in modern Turkish history.
Meanwhile, Turkish security forces detained 13 people in connection with the attack as the investigation continues.
