Three soldiers were killed and six others injured in clashes with PKK terrorists in southeastern Hakkari province
According to a statement by the Turkish General Staff, three soldiers were killed during the clashes with members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province on Saturday.
The military also stated that six other soldiers were injured with one of them in critical condition.
The statement added that a total of 17 terrorists were also neutralized while the clashes are ongoing.
The injured soldiers have been sent to nearby hospitals in the area for treatment.
The conflict between the PKK and Turkish forces has surged again since the two-year cease-fire ended in July, leaving peace negotiations in tatters.
Since July more than 150 members of the Turkish security forces were killed while more than 2,000 PKK terrorists were killed.
The PKK, which is considered a terrorist group by Turkey and much of the international community, including the United States and the European Union, has been involved in a separatist struggle with Turkey since the early 1980s.
Turkey blames the group for the deaths of thousands of people.
