The ATAK-2 helicopter is set to embark on its maiden test flight 'after five years'
Turkey plans to test-run the next generation of its domestically-produced combat ATAK helicopter in 2024 as the country’s Defense Industries Ministry inks a deal with Turkish Aircraft Industries Corporation (TAI) to start work on manufacturing the attack helicopter.
The ATAK-2 helicopter is set to embark on its maiden test flight “after five years.”
The ATAK 2 Attack Helicopter is completely designed with indigenous capacities.
Conceived as a combination of T129 ATAK and T625, ATAK 2 is using the sub-systems such as transmission, rotor systems and landing gears developed under the T625 Utility Helicopter Project as well as the technological know-how, operational experience and achievements gained through the T129 ATAK Helicopter Project. ATAK 2, will be a combat helicopter that can successfully perform its missions in harsh geographical and environmental conditions, which will have increased payload capacity and modern avionic systems alongside with high performance and low maintenance cost.
Our ATAK Helicopters that are produced by TUSAŞ (TAI) within the framework of the Project implemented by our Under secretariat were first delivered in 2014 and production and delivery activities are still in progress.
