Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) shot down an air vehicle of unknown origin after its violation to the Turkish airspace.
The Turkish General Staff said one of its control centers detected an air vehicle, whose nationality is uncertain, and warned it three times after it approached the Turkish border.
“The vehicle was hit and shot down in our air space by our F-16 fighter jets performing a border mission,” the General Staff said.
The General Staff said the unknown vehicle was shot down in lines with the rules of engagement after being warned three times.
The unidentified vehicle was shot down at around 12:30 pm near Deliosman village in Kilis city, near the Syrian border. Some Turkish media networks said it was shot down around 3 kilometres inside Turkish airspace.
Troops were immediately sent to the scene where the drone was shot down. Security measures were stepped up along the border with Syria. Senior military officials, who were flown to the scene by helicopters, personally inspected the spot.
