Turkey's security forces continue operations against the PKK terrorist organization. At least 11 members of the PKK were neutralized in the latest operation
Turkish airstrikes against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) bases in the southeastern province of Hakkari killed 11 PKK terrorists on Friday.
According to the statement by the Turkish General Staff (TSK), weapons depots and shelters of the terrorists were also destroyed.
The attacks targeted the Yüksekova area of Hakkari close to the borders with Iran and Iraq, it said in a statement.
Meanwhile, five terrorists escaped from the PKK in Şanlıurfa surrendered to the Turkish security forces.
The conflict between the PKK and Turkish forces has surged again since the two-year cease-fire ended in July, leaving peace negotiations in tatters.
The PKK, which is considered a terrorist group by Turkey and much of the international community, including the United States and the European Union, has been involved in a separatist struggle with Turkey since the early 1980s.
Turkey blames the group for the deaths of thousands of people.
