President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is officially welcomed by King Philippe of Belgium in the Royal Palace
An official ceremony was held at the Royal Place to welcome Erdoğan on Monday in Brussels.
After laying a wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, the Turkish President attended a business meeting, which was arranged by the Belgium Company Formation.
Erdoğan is also scheduled to make a speech in the Egmont Institute as an honored guest.
Then he will visit the Belgian Parliament, and hold key talks with EU officials, including President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, President of the European Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker.
Erdoğan is expected to discuss with EU officials how to deal with the refugee crisis and the ongoing war in Syria which has forced thousands to leave their homeland. The Turkish President attended the 'anti-terrorism' rally, 'One voice against Terror', in France before heading for Brussels.
Around 12,000 people flocked to Strasbourg on Sunday to hear Erdoğan's address during the anti-terrorism rally.
“Turkey has given a lesson of humanity to Europe and the whole world… Europe is disturbed with even the smallest refugee flow,” Erdoğan said, criticizing European countries for their approach to accepting Syrian refugees and asylum-seekers.
