Two lawmakers of the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) are accused of fleeing Turkey due to possibility of lifting their parliamentary immunities.
HDP deputies Faysal Sarılyıldız and Tuğba Hazer reportedly left Turkey to escape being prosecuted for their links with outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist organization.
The report came at a time when the Turkish parliament are voting on lifting parliamentary immunities from prosecution of MPs, mostly from HDP, who have dossiers in parliament calling for the suspension of their immunity from prosecution.
According to an unnamed HDP officials, both MPs fled to Europe on condition of “not returning” to escape arrest.
The Urfa Public Prosecutor's office had requested that immunity from prosecution be lifted from Sarılyıldız for allegedly “carrying weapons with pawns.”
Haze also has a dossier charging her with creating propaganda for a terrorist organization after she allegedly paid a condolence visit to relatives of the suicide bomber in one of the Ankara attacks.
In a Twitter post, Sarılyıldız admitted to having left Turkey, but said that he would return within couple of days.
Hazer has not made any official statements.
