Gendarmerie identified the man, found dead in car, as village headman in the southeastern province
A village headman in Mardin was shot dead by terrorists from Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on Friday.
Reports said Mehmet Acu was fatally shot in the head by PKK members, who then burned him inside his car.
A charred body, in the wreckage of car, was found to have belonged to the village headman after gendarmerie began searching in a response to a tip-off from his family, who reported him missing.
Details of who he was killed are not yet available but he was said to have been invited by PKK to the scene where he was later gunned down for an unknown reason.
The victim's body was taken to the province's state-run hospital for autopsy.
