US President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump arrived one hour late to the final day's morning session of the G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains, France. Upon entering the room, he joked to world leaders, "I'm the boss," drawing laughter from attendees. The session continued behind closed doors.

World leaders have gathered in the French lakeside town of Evian-les-Bains for the final day of the G7 summit, but the morning session got off to a delayed start as US President Donald Trump arrived an hour behind schedule. French President Emmanuel Macron, who had already opened the proceedings, informed fellow leaders that Trump would join them "shortly" as they awaited his arrival.

Light-hearted entrance breaks the ice

When Trump finally entered the conference room, he addressed the assembled heads of state and government with a quip: "I'm the boss." The remark drew laughter from the leaders and their delegations, briefly lightening the atmosphere before the serious discussions commenced. Trump then took his seat and jokingly asked journalists whether they would like to stay for the meeting, adding, "It's fine with me." The press were subsequently escorted out as the session continued behind closed doors.

Substantive agenda despite delay

The final day's deliberations are expected to focus on the implementation of the US-Iran agreement and regional security frameworks, with leaders also addressing economic cooperation and global supply chain resilience. Trump's late arrival, while generating headlines, did not appear to disrupt the summit's overall schedule. Ankara, though not a G7 member, maintains observer status on several working groups and continues to engage with member states on issues of mutual concern, particularly regarding energy security and regional stability.
