US President Donald Trump said Friday that his administration is achieving "great success" in its dealings with Iran, reiterating that Tehran will not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon as indirect contacts continue following a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire.
US President Donald Trump said Friday his administration is seeing "great success" with Iran aboard Air Force One en route to Wisconsin. "We are having great success with Iran," he told reporters during the flight.
Nuclear stance
The president reiterated that Tehran would not obtain a nuclear weapon, stating that Iran "are not going to have a nuclear weapon" and is in no position to develop such arms. Trump has consistently maintained that Iran will not acquire nuclear weapons under his watch.
Regional backdrop
Regional tensions have remained elevated since late February following US and Israeli strikes on Iran. A Pakistan-brokered ceasefire took effect on April 8, while indirect contacts aimed at reaching a broader understanding have continued.
