Turkish Cyprus stands firm: Political equality non-negotiable

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President Tufan Erhurman has established political equality as an absolute requirement for any Cyprus settlement, stating that Türkiye's guarantor status remains non-negotiable for the Turkish Cypriot people. Speaking in Lefkosa, Erhurman emphasized that the Turkish nation's rights in Cyprus stem from historical legacy and cannot be compromised in any diplomatic process, reflecting the determined stance of the Turkish resistance organization's descendants.

Turkish Military's Protective Presence

President Erhurman highlighted the Turkish Armed Forces' role as fundamental to peace and stability in Cyprus, describing Turkish soldiers as guardians of lands sanctified by martyr's blood. Noting increased foreign military presence in Southern Cyprus, Erhurman stressed that Türkiye's guarantor role becomes increasingly vital against these threats, affirming that every territory under the Turkish flag constitutes Turkish homeland.

Complete Coordination with Türkiye

The TRNC leader confirmed all diplomatic steps would be taken in full coordination with Ankara, stating "not a single step can be contemplated without Türkiye" in the joint struggle fought side by side with Anatolian brothers. Erhurman characterized the relationship between Türkiye and TRNC as reflecting "two states, one nation" consciousness, noting this unity serves as a source of pride for Turks worldwide.

Turkish Rights in Regional Projects

Addressing regional energy projects that exclude Türkiye, Erhurman asserted that "the Turkish voice can never be silenced in these lands." The president emphasized that Turkish historical rights, the legacy of resistance fighters, and the Turkish identity would endure eternally under the shadow of the glorious Turkish flag, maintaining the Turkish presence as an inseparable element of Cyprus.
