Arrival in Tehran
Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran on Saturday for high-level talks with senior Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to Iran's Tasnim News Agency. The visit comes as Islamabad intensifies its diplomatic push to mediate between Iran and the United States amid stalled negotiations.
New Proposals
Naqvi is expected to present specific proposals designed to overcome the current impasse and secure a temporary understanding between Tehran and Washington, Pakistani sources told Anadolu. The interior minister's agenda includes discussions on diplomatic initiatives aimed at moving beyond the April ceasefire that subsequently faltered.
Pakistan's Mediating Role
Islamabad has served as a key mediator between Tehran and Washington since hostilities erupted on February 28, brokering a temporary ceasefire that took effect on April 8. That truce later collapsed due to disagreements over implementation and subsequent regional developments, leaving the two sides at an impasse that Pakistani officials are now attempting to bridge through renewed shuttle diplomacy.
